P.A.R.P. DETAILS

PICK A READING PARTNER (P.A.R.P.) is coming up soon!  The P.A.R.P. program asks students to partner with someone of their choice and to share the joys of reading. Just 20 minutes a day makes a remarkable difference in comprehension, confidence, creativity, and vocabulary, among other things! This letter contains the details of the event!

This year, PARP WEEK is February 12-16, so that our week can coincide with a visit from children's author, Daryl Cobb. Our theme is PIRATES, as many of Mr. Cobb's books are fiction and about pirates. We hope students can explore the new worlds books can create in our minds for 20 minutes a day, sharing this experience with a partner of their choice while embracing the benefits of reading.  We’re also encouraging families to complete three or more HEAR ME ROAR activities during the same week.

We hope to have 100% participation! To enroll, please complete and return the attached PLEDGE SHEET by Feb. 16! You can return your PLEDGE SHEET through your child’s home folder or snap a picture and submit it here. Those who turn in their PROGRESS TRACKERS by Feb. 29 will be entered to win additional prizes, and those who track their HEAR ME ROAR activities will get extra entries.

After PARP week is over, return your PROGRESS TRACKER to school before Feb. 29 to be entered to win one of the prizes associated with PARP week!
